Two friends, Danny Dunmore (right) and Tom Burnette, both living in western North Carolina, have been united by a shared fascination with one of North America’s greatest mysteries — Bigfoot.

Back in the early 2000s, Danny (along with another friend) took action and founded a local group dedicated to investigating sightings and supporting eyewitnesses who claimed to have encountered Bigfoot. What began as a small hobby gradually evolved into a serious effort, resulting in a detailed database of sightings from across the region. Before long, people knew who to call when something strange happened in the woods.

Tom took a more literary route. After years of research and trying to interreact with these creatures, he channeled his passion into writing. Eventually, he became an author, publishing a book that explored his experiences with these mysterious creatures after moving back to his family’s land.

Though their methods differ, both Danny and Tom have remained deeply engaged with documented reports and ongoing accounts of Bigfoot sightings. Over the years, they’ve carefully tracked patterns, listened to eyewitnesses, and contributed to a growing body of research. But beyond the investigation, they share a common philosophy: a live-and-let-live approach. Rather than proving or disproving the creature’s existence at all costs, they’ve focused on understanding and respecting whatever might be out there — and letting it be.
